The 18′ AIRE Kayak Sea Tiger Tandem Touring inflatable Kayaks, 62 lbs, remains the only model from this manufacturer that has a foot rudder, and their system works very well. This boat is really too big and heavy for air travel unless you don’t mind paying overweight baggage fees, and it’s performance is mediocre considering it has an 18′ hull. What keeps the forward speed somewhat limited is the width (37″ although specs show 36″), large wetted surface, and the bulbous floor, which unlike the sleek Sawtooth model isn’t really tapered at the front. It is uniquely V-shaped though on the bottom, providing for excellent tracking even without the rudder. Where this boat shines is in it’s high weight capacity, allowing two big adults to carry another 300 pounds or so of camp gear. Space wise, it really doesn’t have that much more room than the Super Lynx model even though it is four feet longer. Since it’s usage is not on whitewater you can pack your gear high and not be concerned about raising the center of gravity. The bow cover has been redesigned this year with a bungie tie-down area for lighter items. The bow area itself is fairly narrow, so you won’t be putting any wide drybags up there.

The footpegs for the AIRE Sea Tiger rudder adjust along the rail, and as of 2013 you can also now change the position of the rail itself. This required a lot of work prior to this year, so this is a big improvement for those who may switch between using the Sea Tiger solo & tandem.
AIRE Kayak Inflatable Kayak SeatsThe two seats, as with any AIRE or Tributary kayak, are infinitely adjustable and removable so the front paddler has more latitude regarding where they can sit. If you want to use it solo and prefer not to mess with the cables & rudder foot-rail position, just load some weighty gear near the bow to keep the nose down. This model is very popular with scuba enthusiasts, and the 40 tie-down points & dozen D-rings offer many places to carabiner and anchor to.
AIRE Kayak Sea Tiger Tandem Touring Inflatable Kayaks Load CapacityThe AIRE Kayak Sea Tiger Tandem Touring Inflatable Kayaks will only be available in red and yellow from now on. The Sea Tiger weighs 62 pounds with the seat & rudder fin, has 10-1/2″ tubes, holds 700 pounds before swamping, and like all AIRE products is self bailing & has a full ten year guarantee. All hardware is made of either stainless steel, or nylon, so salt water won’t corrode anything. The $2,489 price includes a $125 allowance toward UPS and accessories. UPS will never be that much to any lower-48 state destination. If you need nothing else with the boat, we will work something out with you on the price. If ordered before June 30th and paid with a cashier’s check, we can save you over a hundred dollars. Our extra pre-season discount with AIRE Kayak ends on July 1st, and our wholesale price on this particular boat increases by over a hundred dollars after that. That’s why we encourage buyers of any AIRE model to buy before June 30th rather than after.
Please note that any accessories purchased with your AIRE Kayak Sea Tiger Tandem Touring Inflatable Kayaks are 10% off, and also note that our shopping cart as yet does NOT reflect these discounts – it will show a higher total so we will adjust the bottom line before ringing the transaction through. If for any reason we manage to forget, we will enclose a refund check for the difference inside the box with your receipt.
